The Pharmacist may be able to advise you on many common health problems.
Many pharmacists now run a Minor Ailment Service which means that they can give advice and supply medicines for certain specific conditions on the NHS. For example if your pharmacy runs the service you may be able to get your prescription for mild eczema creams directly from them and pay only the prescription charge or if your exempt from paying prescription charges for free, as you would normally get from your GP.
Your pharmacist may also be able to help with :
- skin conditions, such as mild eczema and mild acne
- coughs and colds, including nasal congestion and sore throat.
- minor cuts and bruises.
- constipation and haemorroids (piles)
- hay fever and allergies
- aches and pains, such as earache backache and headache.
- indigestion, diarrhoea and threadworms.
- period pain and thrush
- warts, verrucas, mouth ulcers and colds sores.
- athletes foot and nappy rash
